West Michigan Capoeira (WMC) is a Low-profit Limited Liability Company committed to promoting healthy living, supporting diverse communities, and empowering others through the art of Capoeira. WMC was founded as an organization in 2007 by Professor Show Grande and Durrell Turk at Western Michigan University. Istrutor Show Grande (Will Lipscomb)
Will Lipscomb (Show Grande) started training Capoeira in August of 1998 with Capoeira Mandinga. In 2003, he joined Cordao De Ouro Capoeira. He has been training Capoeira for over 18 years and travels throughout the United States and Brazil. Show trains under the supervision of Mestre Chicote CDO Paris.
Monitor Caçula (Durrell Turk)
Durrell Turk is the Director of WMC. He started training Capoeira under the guidance of his older cousin Show Grande in 2000. In 2007, he helped in the founding of West Michigan Capoeira. Caçula trains under Show Grande & Mestre Chicote. Since then Caҫula has journeyed throughout the world with Capoeira. He believes Capoeira is a vehicle to explore life’s challenges, overcome obstacles, and build positive relationships.
Monitor Justin Espinoza
Justin Espinoza (Talento) began training Capoeira in 2005 at Grand Valley State University. Since then, he’s visited groups around Michigan, California, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota and Ireland. Of all his work in Capoeira, Talento is most proud of the Capo for the Cure events he has organized to help raise funds for charities in the Michigan community and beyond.
